Eden project (www.edenproject.com) is just 15 minutes away, near the town of St. Austell

Fowey is 3 miles away (www.fowey.co.uk). This picturesque town is well-known for its natural harbour, sailing, and a wide choice of pubs, restaurants and shops

Tywardreath our local village, is 1 mile down the road. It has an excellent local pub, a fish and chip shop (with Thai take-away), a well-stocked local store and award-winning butchers

Trenython Manor bar and restaurant is only a 5 minute walk away

Walking There are some delightful walks in the area. For example the footpaths along the Saints Way, or the spectacular views from the coastal path. The National Trust headland "Gribben Head" with its Daymark tower opens some weekends in the summer.  Circular walks are possible via public footpaths, bridleways and roads.

Gardens As well as Eden and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the local Marsh Villa Gardens (www.marshvillagardens.co.uk) are within 2 miles of us and are somewhat quieter!

Beaches The local beaches are Polkerris (www.polkerrisbeach.com) (2 miles), Par (1 mile), Readymoney Cove (3 miles) plus numerous other small beaches and coves, accessible from the Cornish coastal path. There is a local bus service at the bottom of our lane.

Daphne DuMaurier Tywardreath means "House on the Strand" which is also the title of one of Daphne's novels. The excellent DuMaurier Festival is held once a year in Fowey. (www.dumaurier.org)

Wildlife As well as all the countryside, coastal and river wildlife, less than 5 minutes away is the WINGZ Bird and Animal Gardens. Set in approx 3 acres of Cornish Countryside and with over 50 species of Birds and Animals including a family of Meerkats. (www.wingzbirdsanctuary.co.uk)

Finally, why not explore the beautiful Luxulyan Valley with its spectacular viaduct, old mine workings and tramways at Ponts Mill. A visit to the China Clay Museum (www.wheal-martyn.com) in St. Austell would provide all the necessary background.
