After 15 years and 120,000kWh of power generation, our small-scale (6,000 Watt) wind turbine has sadly ceased up 🙁 Over that period, we generated enough electricity to power 4,000 homes for one day, or our 3 properties for 1,300 days. The turbine was regularly maintained over that period.
So today, we dropped the head to investigate further, and are now looking at the options to get it going again. We hope that it will be back up and running as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the solar panels 🌞 are still providing the majority of hot water, but we are now solely dependent on the National Grid for the supply of electricity.
The strangest thing is not seeing it spinning when it is windy! So, in its place, we raised the Cornish Flag, and will continue our drive towards self-sufficiency AND we can still tell the wind direction! 😊
